Connect the complete enquiry journey
Lesson 14 of 24
Link Home and Services to Contact, connect the preparation article and form in both directions, add Contact to navigation, and prove a signed-out visitor can complete the useful journey.
Before you start
Before you begin Finish the released form checks in Validate and trace the enquiry on the same local practice site. This lesson connects that tested local form journey to the rest of the site. Keep using synthetic details. The Send an enquiry action in this practice site uses the local test form path; it does not claim that a monitored real inbox received the message.
1. Add a working primary action to Home
Open Home. Keep the existing About our approach link as a secondary route. Add a new primary button labelled Send an enquiry and link it to the published Contact Page. Do not use “Book now”; we have built an enquiry path, not instant booking or confirmed availability.
2. Add the same useful next action to Services
Open Services and add a Send an enquiry button after the final scope note. Link to Contact. The visitor can now read what the services mean before choosing whether to contact the site.
3. Link the advice article to Contact
Open Before your first garden visit and add this final paragraph: Ready to describe the work? Use the Contact page to send a test enquiry. Link Contact page to Contact. Keep the original preparation advice intact.
4. Put preparation guidance beside the form
Open Contact and, above the form, add: Before you send: read Before your first garden visit for the details that help explain the job. Link the article title to the published advice article. This creates a two-way relationship: advice can lead to the form, and the form can lead back to preparation guidance.
5. Add Contact to navigation
Open the existing controlled Navigation menu and add the published Contact Page. Use this course order: Home, Services, About, Advice, Contact Save only the Navigation change.
6. Test Home → Contact as a signed-out visitor
Open Home signed out. Activate Send an enquiry and confirm Contact opens with the demo notice, preparation link and form. Do not submit real personal data while testing navigation.
7. Test Services and Advice paths
Repeat as a signed-out visitor: - Services → Send an enquiry → Contact; - Advice article → Contact page → Contact; - Contact → Before your first garden visit → advice article. Check the final URL/content after every link. A correct label pointing to the wrong destination still fails the lesson.
8. Repeat the visitor journey at 390px and by keyboard
Use a 390px viewport, open the five-link navigation, reach Contact and move through the form using the keyboard. The new buttons and links must not destroy the focus visibility tested earlier.
Practise
Reach Contact without using Dashboard from Home, Services and the advice article. Follow the preparation link back from Contact. Use synthetic data only if the accepted test environment requires a final submission. Success check: the phrase Send an enquiry always reaches the verified Contact path; no page advertises a booking or unsupported action.
Check your result
the phrase Send an enquiry always reaches the verified Contact path; no page advertises a booking or unsupported action.
If something goes wrong
- The button opens a preview URL: edit the destination to the published Contact Page. - Contact appears twice in navigation: keep one Page Link and remove only the duplicate link, not the Page. - Forminator or mail settings changed since Validate and trace the enquiry: stop relying on the action and repeat the local validation, stored-submission and Mailpit checks before continuing.
